LESSON #2:
BUSINESS LANGUAGE
Did you know that the most successful
business men are those with good listening skills? What is your business
language? Are you the listening type or are you the know-it-all type that
doesn’t want to listen? In my earlier lessons I gave two of my entrepreneur
role models and one thing I noted with them is that they listen. Tyra Banks
being one of them takes time to listen to the girls who compete in her show.
It’s important to know what your employees think and what ideas they bring to
the table much as you have the final decision. It is also important to listen
to your clients.
·
Do not talk when you are listening. Interrupting is one of the most
common discourtesies. Listen aggressively with the full scope of your
attention. You will be amazed at what you learn and how your counsel will soon
be sought by many. -- Robin S. Sharma
Is your business language simple and
humble yet firm?
·
Lao-Tzu prized three essential qualities for a person of greatness:
"the first is gentleness; the second is frugality; the third is humility,
which keeps me from putting myself before others. Be gentle and you can be
bold; be frugal and you can be liberal; avoid putting yourself before others
and you can become a leader among men-- Robin S. Sharma
Does your temper get the best of you when things
don’t go your way? How do you handle a heated situation?
·
"Anybody can become angry - that is easy; but to be angry with
the right person, and to the right degree, and at the right time, and for the
right purpose, and in the right way -that is not within everybody's power and
is not easy." - Aristotle
