LESSON #4.2: HEALTHY DIET
EATING AT THE RIGHT TIME
In most
cases people eat food according to the world standard time for meals. Breakfast
from 7:30 a.m-9:00 a.m. Lunch 1:00pm-2:00pm, Supper/Dinner 8:00p.m-9:30 pm
which is good depending on what time you wake up or how your daily schedule is
or what time you sleep.
But what
happens in between that time? Most people eat snacks /JUNK FOOD like chocolate,
biscuits, cupcakes, sweets and crisps. Am not saying you shouldn’t eat junk
food, but it's not necessary to eat it in between meals ALL THE TIME? That is how
most people most especially women gain weight because of the sweet tooth
syndrome; some men also have this addiction. Chocolate is good and healthy only
if taken in small proportions.
A variety of junk food.
If you want
to live a healthy yet fit and trimmed life supplement that junk food with
fruits. Instead of buying those expensive packed fruits from the supermarket take
a trip to your local market buy as many fruits as you can find. Buy a lunch box
(yes like the one your kids have) and pack your fruits every day. If you find
it messy and difficult to pack those fruits make juice out of them. You can
make a cocktail of fruit juice by mixing them in a blender. Personally I like
making concentrated mango juice with no sugar added plus I don’t sieve out the
fibers which are good for easing digestion.

A cup of yoghurt
is also good in-between meals .It is rich in proteins and its heaviness can
sustain you until the next meal especially for those who have ulcers. If your
allergic to milk or other dairy products and you’re wondering what you will
eat, soy milk is a good supplement for milk and soya beans a good supplement
for meat. In fact it is said that the Japanese have the longest life span as
compared to Americans because they eat steamed food (which is healthy because
all the nutrients stay in the food unlike fried foods) plus they always
supplement their meals with soya which is known to have a higher protein
composition as compared to red meat.
A small cup of yoghurt is healthy
Salads are
also a good in-between snacks; a simple salad can have lettuce, cucumber,
carrots, avocado (optional; can be put separately to avoid squashing) and
tomatoes (in a separate container), salad dressing, salad seasoning, mayonnaise
or olive oil (whichever you prefer). The
reason why I insist in separating the tomatoes is because they have a lot of
water and if combined early with the rest of the salad the salad becomes soggy
and the crunchiness is lost.

Eat your
meals at the right time, or better still eat when you’re hungry and not before.
