AGRICULTURE; LARGE SCALE vs. SMALL SCALE PRODUCTION
Large scale (Commercial) production is where products are usually produced for external or export markets while small scale (subsistence) production is where products are produced for local market and personal consumption.

WHY SHOULD UGANDAN’S INVEST IN LARGE SCALE PRODUCTION?
The advantages of large scale production to small scale production:

§  Large profits are gained through the export market.

§  Large scale production is usually cash crop produce.

§  Large scale production usually has steady market and steady market prices. 

§  The farmer gets to meet international clients.

§  You can now advertise your produce on the internet by creating websites.

§  Large scale production leads to creation of food-processing industries.

§  The more large scale farmers we have the more Cooperatives will be created and the government will support agriculture and more subsidies will be implemented on farm equipment and chemicals.
§  Healthy completion will be created and food prices will not inflate.
 
WHY SHOULD UGANDAN’S ENGAGE IN SMALL SCALE PRODUCTION?
The advantages of small scale production to large scale production:

§  A variety of food crops are grown and animals can be kept in small numbers.

§  The produce is usually consumption purposes.

§  The produce can be kept for home consumption or sold in the local market.

§  The producer is saved from the burden of buying food in the market.

§  Any space can become a kitchen garden to grow vegetables ,fruits and greens.
§  Food security is ensured.
