LESSON #32:
PATIENCE
& PERSISTENCE
Patience is very important in a business especially if you have just
started a new venture. One thing you should remember is much as your venture is
new, the industry isn’t and to get to the top, well you first have to be the
underdog for a while even if your business plan was the master plan.
In the 1st year of business there is what we call the loss
year, this is where we discover the pros and cons of the business through
practical’s, we learn our errors, learn how to take risks and also learn how to
use “that gut feeling” (instincts) for decision making. If one is not patient
then your business will not survive until its 1st birthday.
Cheating your way to the top will lead to loss of clientele and loyal
customers. Give your venture time to grow because it’s like a newborn that
needs to be nourished with the right foods at the right time. Imagine feeding
your 3 month old baby hard food like posho because you want them to grow fast?
You will definitely suffocate and kill the baby. Therefore take the baby steps first then run then eventually you shall fly and soar with the Eagles. Patience and persistence are very important virtues if you seek to see a life time of success.
Be persistent always have ideas for innovation and improvement up your sleeve. If your original idea did not work try new ideas, ask for help from those who are already in the business and most importantly do not give up if things are not going according to plan. Just go back to the drawing board and if you cannot do this for your self do it for your country.- Gloria Pnky
